IN THE AGE OF CELEBRITY, DOES TALENT REALLY MATTER?
Many photographers who have worked in the industry for years are upset over Burberry's decision to hire sixteen year-old Brooklyn Beckham as the photographer for their latest fragrance campaign. The son of David and Victoria Beckham is not the first celebrity child in the Beckham family to be hired by Burberry, though. Their youngest son, Romeo, appeared in a summer campaign for Burberry in 2013 and then again for the brand's 2015 Christmas campaign.
While many are upset at the choice, others (including Brooklyn's godfather, Sir Elton John) have defended Burberry's choice.
Nepotism is something that happens very often in nearly every single industry. Sometimes it just works out in your favor if you know someone at a company to help get your foot in the door, but ultimately you have to depend on your own talent to actually land the job. Luck gets you in the door, but hard work keeps you in the room.
After taking a look at some of the photographs that Burberry posted via their Instagram, let us know what you think about their choice.
With millions of Instagram followers and a fairly powerful last name, was Burberry's decision bold and fresh? Strategic? Possibly both?
